For working parents, finding the right preschool is about more than choosing a nurturing classroom and a strong educational philosophy. The hours have to work, too.

At Better World Preschool, we understand that every family’s schedule looks a little different. That’s why we offer flexible Before & AfterCare options that allow families to build a preschool schedule around their needs—while knowing their child is spending the entire day in a familiar, caring environment.

Flexible Hours That Work for Your Family

Our earliest drop-off begins at 8:00 AM, giving parents the option to get a head start on their workday while their child eases into the morning at school.

Families can then choose from several afternoon pickup times, including:

• 12:30 PM
• 2:30 PM
• 4:00 PM
• 5:00 PM
• 6:00 PM

Monday through Thursday, care is available until 6:00 PM. On Fridays, Better World Preschool closes at 4:00 PM in preparation for Shabbat.

Before & AfterCare is available for children in all of our age groups, and families don’t have to choose the same schedule five days a week. You can select the days and hours that make the most sense for your family’s routine.

For parents with different work schedules on different days, that flexibility can make a big difference.

What Does an Extended Day Look Like?

One of the most important things for us is that Before & AfterCare doesn’t feel like children are simply waiting for the regular school day to begin—or waiting for their parents to arrive.

Children who arrive for early care are greeted by our teachers and have time to settle in and play in one of our classrooms before the regular school day begins. If a child needs to eat breakfast at school, families can send breakfast from home and our teachers are happy to serve it.

After the core preschool day, the pace naturally shifts. Depending on their age and individual needs, children may have nap time or quiet play, followed by snack, free play and outdoor time. Teachers continually introduce different toys, activities and experiences to keep children interested and engaged throughout the afternoon.

Most importantly, you won’t find children sitting by the door waiting for their parents to arrive. Whether a child is picked up at 2:30, 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00, they remain actively engaged with their teachers, friends and activities until it’s time to go home. When a parent arrives, we’re often calling a child away from whatever they are happily playing with!

The goal is for extended care to feel like a meaningful extension of their school day—not simply time spent waiting for pickup.

Supporting Working Parents

We know that for many families, preschool hours and work hours don’t naturally line up.

In fact, most of our families use some form of extended-day care, whether that’s an early morning drop-off, a later afternoon pickup or a combination that varies throughout the week.

For dual-income and working families, having one consistent place where their child can spend the day can remove a major piece of the daily scheduling puzzle. Parents don’t have to arrange for a separate caregiver or transportation at the end of the preschool day. Their child can stay in the same familiar environment, surrounded by teachers and friends they know.

It also means parents can focus on their workday knowing their child isn’t simply being “watched.” They are being cared for, engaged and supported throughout their time at school.

What Happens If You’re Running Late?

This is a question we hear often from working parents: “What happens if I’m late for pickup?”

We understand that things happen. A meeting runs long. Traffic is worse than expected. A train is delayed.

Most importantly, your child will always be safely cared for until you arrive.

We understand that an occasional unexpected delay can happen. If late pickups become recurring, a late fee of $25 per hour applies.

Our goal isn’t to make an already stressful situation more stressful—it’s to make sure parents know their child is safe while also allowing us to appropriately plan and staff our program.

How to Add Before & AfterCare

Once your child is registered at Better World Preschool, adding extended care is simple.

Before & AfterCare has a separate registration form available through the same ShulCloud account used for your child’s regular preschool registration. Families can select the days and pickup times that work best for their schedule.

And because every family’s needs are different, we’re always happy to talk through the options and help you determine what schedule makes the most sense for your child and your family.
