Discover: 2 Years

Learning Stages Discover

The children can carry the skills they learn in the 2’s program throughout their lives. We promote independence by building confidence and fostering a sense of belonging. We encourage problem-solving through increased communication. The children develop the words and techniques to talk about their feelings with peers and work together to find solutions—an early step toward collaboration and understanding. Gaining an appreciation for how their friends feel helps them develop empathy, planting the seeds of kindness and respect. They learn the importance of sharing, thinking of others, and contributing to a harmonious classroom. Kindness is modeled and celebrated, because even at this early age, children are discovering how their actions can make the world a better place.

Classroom activities include:

  • Introducing writing utensils for prewriting skills
  • Building language skills through songs, storytelling in a literacy rich environment
  • Moving from parallel play to cooperative play
  • Introducing letters and sounds through playful games
  • Introducing arithmetic skills through cooking, counting, pouring and measuring
